RUBATTINO/MASERATI Urban Requalification Program: Execution of a nursery and of a kindergarten in the former Maserati Area With this construction work, the Milan Municipality responded to the postponed demand for this type of service within the new Rubattino/Maserati Requalification Program. The result is a building with traditional and tranquilizing architectural forms, but with a technologically advanced “core”, able to ensure high levels of comfort during the entire year, as well as a reduced fuel consumption of the installations. In order to satisfy the needs of small (and big-sized) users, bright and spacious interiors were matched with a green external arrangement full of trees and green fences. The building was engineered with innovative ecological building materials, high performance thermal insulation which optimizes the indoor-outdoor energy flow, ensuring the best comfort to end users and optimal energy class. Typical features of the traditional architecture combine with modern and sophisticated technological innovation, such as the flat roof for photovoltaic panels, the “light corridors” and the functional interior spaces. The openings make the most of natural ventilation and the intake of sunlight in the room. The walls were so built as to ensure maximum reduction of the outside noise, the noise of footsteps and the one coming from plants.
The kindergarten was designed to accommodate 5 groups with a total capacity of 135 children, while the Nursery was sized for 60 children divided into 3 groups. The choice of interior and exterior finishes satisfies the need for maximum maintenance convenience and high response to the hygiene and safety criteria.
